We are a non-profit organization
that uses innovation to educate and raise awareness

Why?

To make a fun and stimulating path to a more conscious and sustainable world.

How?

Within a process of collaborative work, we identify social or environmental challenges and create solutions for them.

What?

We design and develop tools and creative experiences for the fields of education and awareness building: games, workshops, e-training, Web-based platforms...
... and we continue to innovate!

History

Smilemundo was born in the year 2011 in Barcelona. At first, we were committed to crowdfunding and we launched a platform to raise funds so that small organizations in the third sector could forge ahead with their projects.

After two years of intense work and after having acquired funds for more than 20 organizations, we have realized that education is the main pillar for the creation of a society based on sustainable development. For this reason, we have decided to now focus all our efforts, technological knowledge and creativity in the development of educational tools that serve to promote social values through play and innovation.

The first project we have developed within this line is the SmileUrbo game. It has been very well recognized and has received international awards. However, the most important thing for us is to ensure how our tools can stimulate participants to become aware of their role as citizens, stimulating them to be co-creators of a more responsible and sustainable world.

1

SmileUrbo

SmileUrbo is an interactive role playing game designed to teach players about real world social and environmental challenges. Through group participation and decision-making, the players learn collaboration, win-win negotiation, and conflict resolution.

2

Crowdfunding platform

This project promotes crowdfunding as a way for civic engagement and the creation of synergies, aimed at the improvement of the society, the environment and the living conditions of animals.

During the time it was in effect (2012-2014), a total of 70 projects of small and medium-sized nonprofit organizations were promoted, of which more than 20 received financial support.

3

Online training for NGOs

The objective of this project is to offer to organizations the knowledge on how to carry out successful online campaigns.

The training, which lasts about seven weeks, can be accessed online for free. We hope that nonprofits take the most out of it!
